The Green Climate Fund project "Support for the Implementation of Forest Sector Reform in Georgia to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Forest Degradation" is implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and its subordinate agencies, including the National Forestry Agency, the Environmental Supervision Department, the Environmental Information and Education Center, and the Rural Development Agency. The project is also carried out in cooperation with the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The project is funded by the Green Climate Fund, the Government of Georgia, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Within the framework of the project, the Rural Development Agency ensures the promotion of the development of the energy-efficient and alternative fuel market and implements the following activities.

Through the Preferential Agrocredit Project, under the Preferential Agrocredit for Fixed Assets component, access to preferential agrocredit has been made available for enterprises producing energy-efficient stoves and alternative fuel for these stoves. Additionally, a new sub-component of preferential agrocredit for fixed assets has been introduced to support food and energy-efficient industries, along with a sub-component of preferential agro-leasing for financing food and energy-efficient industries. As a result, enterprises can now modernize their equipment or establish new production facilities. Furthermore, under the Co-Financing Program for Processing and Storage Enterprises, the Processing Enterprises Component has been expanded to include the production of energy-efficient stoves and alternative fuel.

One of the key instruments of the project is technical assistance and investment support, which involves financial assistance for energy-efficient stove and alternative fuel manufacturers. This support enables them to invest in their businesses and increase production both in terms of quantity and quality.
