The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia met with the heads of the regional services of the Rural Development Agency in a working format

At the meeting, the minister focused on the effectiveness of the work of the extension services and noted that, depending on the specifics of each region, it is important for regional services to identify the needs of farmers in a timely manner and respond to them.

"State programs are constantly being improved, we are creating new programs; Our goal is that all activities are tailored to the development of the field and the needs of farmers. Taking into account the specifics of each region, it is important to hear both information about challenges and result-oriented initiatives from the regional services," said Otar Shamugia.

Lasha Shalamberidze, head of the Department of Relations with the Regions of the Rural Development Agency, spoke about the 2024 plans of the Extension Service and the progress of the programs that are being implemented with the involvement of the Extension Services.

The work of the extension services in each village is carried out in accordance with the pre-written schedule, which means identifying the needs of farmers, providing information about state programs, holding meetings with the population engaged in agricultural activities; Also, in order to share experience, organizing visits to demonstration plots and beneficiaries of state programs.

It was noted at the meeting that the employees of the extension services are actively and successfully involved in the ongoing activities within the framework of the campaign against the Asian pheasant, the project of traceability of agricultural products and the promotion program of hazelnut production.

At the meeting held in the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Tengiz Nasaridze, Director of Rural Development Agency Davit Tsitlidze, First Deputy Director of the Agency Giorgi Phantsulaia, deputies Natalia Kharatishvili and Giorgi Jibladze were present.
