The Preferential Agrocredit Project has added a subcomponent for the "Financing of Primary Blueberry Production"

Georgian Blueberry, supported by state programs implemented by the Rural Development Agency, has become one of the most in-demand products both in the local and international markets. In February 2025, heavy snowfall damaged the sector, creating the need to support blueberry producers so that they can carry out the necessary work in their orchards on time, in accordance with the agricultural calendar.

By the decision of the Government of Georgia, during the 2025 season, blueberry producers will benefit from the Preferential Agrocredit Project. The interest on loans issued for the purpose of cultivating and maintaining blueberries will be covered by the Rural Development Agency. The loans will be issued to blueberry producers whose orchards are located in the Imereti, Guria, and Samegrelo regions.

Blueberry producers will be able to use the preferential agroloan to cover current expenses for pesticides, organic and mineral fertilizers, biological plant protection products, labor resources, agricultural machinery rental, fuel and lubricants for agricultural equipment, and costs for soil and water laboratory analysis.

The Rural Development Agency will co-finance the interest rate of the loan issued for no more than 12 months at an annual rate of 9%. The maximum annual interest rate on the loan is set at 18%. The loan amount per beneficiary is defined as no less than 10,000 GEL and no more than 100,000 GEL.

The Preferential Agrocredit Project is available to individuals, individual entrepreneurs registered in accordance with the legislation of Georgia, and legal entities registered in accordance with the legislation of Georgia (excluding state/municipal enterprises).
