A seminar was held regarding the standardization of energy-efficient stoves
A representative of a European-accredited laboratory operating in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Jens Decker, conducted a seminar on the EN 16510 standard regulating the safety, efficiency, and environmental impact of solid fuel heating devices.
Special attention was paid to the mechanisms for ensuring compliance in the European Union market and the importance of quality control.
“The programs of the Rural Development Agency provide for financial support for both manufacturers and consumers of energy-efficient stoves. It is especially important for the Agency to become familiar with modern European requirements regarding the safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance of heating devices,” noted Deputy Director of the Rural Development Agency, Giorgi Avaliani, in his welcoming speech.
The seminar was held within the framework of the project “Support to the Implementation of Forest Sector Reform in Georgia - ECO.Georgia,” which is implemented through the efforts of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). The project is co-financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Government of Georgia.
The seminar was attended by beneficiary manufacturers of energy-efficient stoves of the Rural Development Agency, representatives of the laboratory based at the Georgian Technical University, and representatives of the implementing organizations of the ECO.Georgia project.
