Farmers earned 6.5 million GEL by selling non-standard apples

From September 9 to November 5 of this year, 15 fruit processing enterprises involved in the state program received up to 22,500 tons of non-standard apples. As a result, farmers received up to 6.5 million GEL in income, with a state subsidy of approximately 2.5 million GEL.

Within the framework of the program to promote the sale of non-standard apple crops, in case of purchasing non-standard apples, state subsidies are provided to fruit processing companies that purchase 1 kg of non-standard apples from individuals employed in the fruit growing sector for at least 27 tetri per kg by December 15, 2025, the Rural Development Agency will provide a subsidy of 10 tetri per kg of substandard apples.

Within the framework of the state program, non-standard apples are purchased by fruit processing enterprises in Shida Kartli, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Racha-Lechkhumi Kvemo Svaneti regions.

In order to ensure the organized delivery of substandard apples, a coordination headquarters is operating by decision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
